Threatened Species

Threatened Species: The following list includes all mammals which occur in Iraq and are rated as Critically Endangered (CR), Endangered (EN) or Vulnerable (VU) in the 2004 IUCN Red List of Threatened Animals

  • Vulnerable:
    • Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus
    • Dugong (Dugong dugon).
    • Eurasian Otter (Lutra lutra). 
    • Humpback Whale (Megaptera novaeangliae).
    • Lesser Horseshoe Bat (Rhinolophus hipposideros). 
    • Long-fingered Bat (Myotis capaccinii).
    • Mehely's Horseshoe Bat (Rhinolophus mehelyi).
    • Sind Bat (Eptesicus nasutus).
    • Smooth-coated Otter (Lutrogale perspicillata). (Previously Lutra perspicillata.) 
    • Wild Goat (Capra aegagrus).
